31 Ways to Celebrate Fair Trade Month

2009_10_07-fairtrade.jpgHappy Fair Trade Month! Whether you're an avid supporter of Fair Trade or are curious to know what it all means, there's a new Web site offering daily doses of food talk, impact stories, events, and giveaways.

We wrote about TransFair USA, the non-profit organization that certifies Fair Trade products in the United States, during Fair Trade Month last October. This year, TransFair USA has launched an interactive Fair Trade Month site featuring "31 Days/31 Ways" to learn about and support the movement.

Overhauling your entire pantry for Fair Trade might be an overwhelming prospect, so the nice thing about the site is that it offers small and simple daily steps – and fun challenges, too, like making a Fair Trade banana split and sharing the photos. Putting a face on Fair Trade, the Impact section of the site has stories and photos showing how Fair Trade helps individuals in developing countries. There's also information about specific products like coffee, sugar, and spices, as well as event listings, party guides, and giveaways for treats like Fair Trade chocolate.
