Look! Vintage Menu Board

Michele at Fine Furious Life has an old menu board hanging in her kitchen, and she likes to put her dinner menus up for friends when they come to eat. We like this idea - do you ever write up your dinner menu?

We don't, but the idea of a chalkboard or moveable type message board for menus is appealing and fun. Even when (especially when?) there are letters missing, as on Michele's board here, and creative spellings and descriptions are the order of the day.

Gonna take a stab at pumpkin ravioli with sage butter sauce this weekend. The recipe I'm using will have me making my own pumpkin puree. But I've heard that most pumpkins sold this time of year are for carving, not eating. Yet, I somehow feel I'm be-cheapening the recipe by using canned. Any thoughts?
