As we suspected when we wrote yesterday's surveys, almost all of you shop at Farmers' Markets. (We knew that; we just had to check.)
Let's keep the torch lit a few more days and get some more votes in our geographical survey. If you already voted, don't vote again, although more comments are always welcomed, especially those like Sparky's: "Did anyone read that article in GQ magazine last month, saying the best place to meet beautiful women in Los Angeles is at the farmer's market?" Amen, Sparky.

I currently take advantage of the farmers' market in Wilmington, NC. The Saturday morning market is held along the riverfront ... so a beautiful setting is the bonus. [Familiar scene to any Dawson's Creek fans] Whatever is in season is what I'm in the market for.
I like to shop on occassion at the Sun Valley Farmer's Market in Austin. It's a Saturday morning moarket that features both farmers and some of the local eateries. Always pick up a loaf of sourdough, empanadas, and seasonal veggies.
I shop at the farmers' market on the Capitol Square, in Madison, WI. It starts its outdoor season this Saturday. From what I know, it's the largest farmers' market in the nation.
Darn! I was just going to rave about the Farmers Market around Capitol Square in Madison, Wisconsin, but Bubbles beat me to it. Anyway, the one in Madison, has the best corn, cheese (of course), cider . . . everything. And all the farmers and sellers are friendly and nice. I miss Mad-City, WI.
And Capitol Square is so beautiful on a Saturday morning, it definitely beats Union Square, NYC.
I shop the Grand Army Plaza farmer's market on Satrudays in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Hey Bubble, you helped out a week ago when I could not find the knew link to "the Kitchen." Thanks. It proves what I always say, people from or who have passed through Madison, Wisconsin are the most wonderful people.
St. Louis has a great farmers market - particularly in the summer - in the Soulard neighborhood. Real farmers with real fresh produce, real poultry, real herbs and good real people watching.
I meant "the new link to the kitchen". Anyway, I did pass by the Farmers Market near Grand Army Plaza last Saturday, during my Saturday morning jog, and it looked bigger and more vibrant than previous years. I am liking the one at Grand Army as well.
In Ithaca, we have a great farmer's market right on an inlet of Cayuga Lake on Saturdays and Sundays, and in a local downtown park on Tuesdays. I can walk to both markets from my apartment.
In Albuquerque, there are Saturday markets in parks throughout the city May-October and a Sunday market in the neighboring village of Corrales. The rest of the year I get produce through a CSA.
As Albuquerque is my place of birth, I agree with Arin that the markets are wonderful there. These days I shop at the Athens Farmers Market in Athens, Ohio. http://www.athensfarmersmarket.org/ . Small town living at its best!
In the D.C. area there are a lot of Farmer's Markets, so it is really easy to find tasty stuff. The best of all the local markets, though, is the Dupont Circle FreshFarm Market: http://www.freshfarmmarket.org/markets.html
yum! went to farmers market this morning in union square and got sheeps' cheese, fresh yogurt, flounder, ramps, and pea shoots. a little wine and we will be eating like kings tonight!
union square...nothing makes me happier than rolling out of bed on a saturday morning, packing my cart or tote up, and going to the market bright and early. the beautiful displayes of flowers and the promise of summer vegetables and fruit to come makes me so happy.
There are several in Minneapolis, but my favorite farmers' market is the one behind St. Mary's Basilica: homemade sausage, fresh flowers, great grilled corn, an amazing variety of asian produce (the Hmong farmers in MN bring great things!), and giant bags of Honeycrisp apples. It doesn't hurt that the French Meadow bakery sells their yummy pastries there too!
(the farmers' market downtown on Nicollet Mall is serverly lacking, though: it's all from industrial farms and dispersed to several stands, so it's all the same stuff and not lovely or exciting at all.)
In Chicago I go to the Wednesday organic market in Lincoln Park near North Ave but on the Saturdays I LOVE the market in Evanston or the tiny one in Wilmette. My boyfriend runs over to the federal building market on Thursdays. There are a ton of Saturday markets in Chicago.
There are a plethora of Farm Markets in Portland, Oregon. As a chef and event planner I use them almost exclusively during the growing season. Much of what is offered is organic. Who would go to the grocery store when they can wander the stalls and get a feeding for the soul as well as the stomach.
The Portland, Oregon metro area boasts a number of farmer's markets on Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday. During summer, it's a must every weekend.
Pierre, I'm glad to help :).
DuPont Farmers Market in Washington, DC
Millbrae Farmers'Market in the Bay Area. A great little farmes' market.
Silver Lake Farmer's Market on Saturdays and the Hollywood Farmer's Market on Sundays.
