On the Menu: Fall Snacks

We love snacks in the fall. Maybe it's the tailgate parties, or hikes in the state parks, or going back to school, but fall seems like a time for sweet and nutty snacks.

Here are some of our favorite fall treats and snacks.

 
 

Peanut Butter Popcorn - Sweet, salty, crunchy and chewy.
Sweet and Salty Cinnamon Almonds - Our new favorite!
Buckeyes - Peanut butter balls wrapped in chocolate.
DIY Graham Crackers - A little healthier, and oh-so-yummy.
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds - Classic.
Mini Molasses Cookies with Lemon Filling - A little more work, but worth it.

oooooh! These sound like perfect fall snacks. Hmmm . . . I'm supposed to be canning apple sauce tonight, I may have to squeeze in some time to whip together the recipe for Peanut Butter Popcorn. It sounds quick and easy! Thanks for the great ideas!

So why does it have to be smooth PB for the buckeyes? I want to make them but I LOVE my crunchy peanut butter. Will it not work?

anne--i've made buckeyes before, only with smooth peanut butter, but i bet crunchy would work fine. and be totally delicious!

this is not exactly a snack, but i will roll over and purr if someone could recommend a good, not too-sweet gingerbread recipe. something i could toast and slather with butter or cream cheese. :)

Oh, crunchy peanut butter totally works with the Buckeyes. You just have to be careful that it isn't too crumbly. Sometimes I use half smooth, half crunchy.

I just finished making the Peanut Butter Popcorn. I used air popped popcorn and natural super chunky peanut butter. It's still a little warm, but tastes delicious! I can't wait for it to cool. The house smells so good tonight. First from the batch of applesauce I canned and now from all the peanut-y goodness.

I made the graham crackers last night - fantastic- i substituted apple juice for the water, and left out the sugar. they were plenty sweet enough just by using the juice as a sweetener. i also added nutmeg, ground cloves and a dash of ginger. these would make excellent Christmas cookies, because they are very strong and would hold icing very well, and can be easily cut with cookie cutters.

My first batch of sweet and salty cinnamon almonds are in the oven as I write this. The house smells divine, and I can't wait until they're done and cool enough to eat!
