Eva Solo's Modern, Minimalist Grill Wins Design Awards

2008_05_09_table-grill-by-eva-solo.jpgWe tend to splurge on steaks and stick to the low-end when it comes to charcoal grills. But, if we were hosting a posh picnic, we'd pick up this Table Grill by Eva Solo ($340, Lumens.com).

The small tabletop grill, designed by Claus Jensen and Henrik Holbaek, just won Best In Show at the Las Vegas Gourmet Show. (The BeaterBlade also picked up an award at the show, in the Gadgets Cutlery and Accessories category.) The Eva Solo tabletop grill also won a 2006 Baden-Wattemberg International Design Award and the IF Design Award 2007.

The bowl is made of porcelain while the grid and insert are made of stainless steel. When hot, the grill sits securely on the wood table protector. The bowl, grid, and insert are all dishwasher safe. These last two bits are important for us urbanite grillers: without a stand, bucket grills can leave marks on the roof or sidewalk ... and yes, we've been known to hose off our grill and then run it through the dishwasher for a de-grease deep clean before tucking it away until next summer.

Those with a bigger backyard and a bigger budget might be up for the larger Charcoal Grill by Eva Solo ($960,

my grandfather made a similar portable grill around 75 years ago. The base was made of clay and the metal grill that holds the food was made of clay. Unportable cooking stoves were also made.

Price : ingenuity.
Eco friendly and sustainable to the earth.
Food : flavorful.

2 weekends ago i went to the famous grocery shop on 41st and 9th avenue. They made stuffed grapes in clay pots. So much better than all clad and alumninium and similar junk.

where do i buy clay cooking pots.
