We get so many questions about parties, dinner menus, and cooking for a crowd on a budget, and we're always on the lookout for simple yet elegant ideas for a company meal. So take a look at this country brunch over at Eddie Ross's blog — it's a great example of how to host a meal in an elegant but inexpensive way!
He kept this brunch menu simple, with inexpensive ingredients. Yogurt, fruit, salad, and spinach and ham quiches — no shrimp or smoked salmon here. But when that quiche is served with a pretty pinched crust in an old-fashioned dish, and the littler quiches are arranged on cake stands, everything looks extra-special.
Of course, we hardly have the deep prop closet that Eddie does! Oh for cut crystal bowls and fully-fledge Jadeite collection! But it's still a very inspiring look at dressing up an otherwise simple brunch with flowers and well-made and seasonal food.

Just goes to show that humble ingredients and simple preparation are always in style.

Bemoaning the lack of a deep prop closet sounds like the perfect excuse to scour thrift stores and antique fairs to me!
Now that I realize I LIKE quiche, I'll have to check this recipe out.

Eddie & Jaithan are so so talented! I love their blog for its tips and new ideas. If you get the chance you have to go to his flea market events, we learned so much and scored some great finds - we wrote about our trip here: http://www.paisleypetunia.com/blog/?p=265

This is a great idea. Brunch can get really expensive! Especially once you start buying great lox, etc...
