We were so busy putting desserts in place for almost 400 people at our friend's wedding reception this weekend that we didn't have much time for taking pictures. It was eventful (think a minor catastrophe involving a cooler, slippery hands and orange juice) and yet everything went beautifully.
It was a stunning autumn evening in the country, at an old mansion in the rolling hills. Bittersweet and huckleberry vines adorned the tables, with russet pears and tiny gourds nestled inside. There were candles everywhere, and many, many sweets.
It was a lot of work, but worth it. We say again that if you have time, energy, and just a little pluck, a big party and even a wedding reception can be done by amateurs and volunteers. Budget constraints can even work to your advantage, producing unique and one-of-a-kind ideas.
We're glad we did it, but also glad of a break! Watch for the roundup a little later this week; we'll link up all the party and wedding reception resources in one post.
