apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Skyr by Siggi

2006_08_07-skyr.jpgSkyr is traditional Icelandic yogurt and a fellow named Siggi Hilmarsson is making it right here in NYC with local milk from Evans Farmhouse Creamery upstate.

Siggi came to New York City from Iceland and got homesick for skyr, the traditional low-fat strained yogurt his grandmother made back home. So he started to make his own skyr in his tiny apartment. Skyr caught on . Now Siggi makes small-batch skyr in four flavors with milk from hormone-free, grass-fed cows.

You can get skyr at Real Food Markets and Murray’s Cheese.
