We've been eating a lot of Woodstock Water Buffalo yogurt lately. With a little hint of barnyard flavor like goat's milk, water buffalo milk has a great texture and is packed to the gills with nutrition.
Compared to good ol' cow's milk, buffalo milk has 58% more calcium, 40% more protein, and 43% less cholesterol. It also contains high levels of the natural antioxidant tocopherol. OK, so it has a little more fat. But it's GOOD fat. When you eat it, you know you're doing something good for your body. Think avocado fat. Think salmon fat.
David Muller runs its operations with values. "The Woodstock Water Buffalo Company is committed to supporting sustainable agriculture and the family farm."
It's available in NYC at any gourmet or health-food market. Or, use their handy store locator tool.

mmmmmmm... i completely second the wonderfulness of woodstock water buffalo yogurt!
it actually tastes like yogurt, which in my book is awesome!
i currently flipflop pretty much on a weekly basis between this stuff and redwood hill's goat yogurt
the goat yogurt has an unmistakable chevre quailty to it, slightly herbaceous and a little, well, goaty!
i think i read somewhere that woodstock water buffalo folk also make mozzarella
can anyone confirm or deny?
anyone tried it before??
I tried this but found it soooo rich. Couldn't bring myself to try it again. Lately I've been picking up Emmi Pink Grapefruit yogurt and Sky Top Farms Organic yogurt, the orange one. Both are great.
Count me as another fan - I love the chai flavor. I can also confirm that they make mozzarella - it's delicious.
I'm also thrilled to say that some of their buffalo are descended from the buffalo from the farm where I lived as a kid!
After I tried the buffalo milk yogurt during a visit to Vermont, I could not stop craving for it. Regular yogurt tastes bland, only Brown Cow whole milk yogurt comes close. Could not get the yogurt in CA until recently when it magically appears at Whole Foods. Now, life is goooood ....
Has anyone tried Fage' - the Greek yogurt? Surely those in NY have. I think its awesome and now don't use any other yogurt. I don't believe in really LOW fat products because it just makes you crave more volume but Fage' has full fat, 2% and then something without fat.
This is how I use it: For a.m. - 1 small container, a bit of honey with a bit of Splenda, (I have to watch sugar...), and frozen organic blueberries (Cascadian Farms) all in a blender. I add a spoon of protein booster. Georgeous purple (3/4 c. blueberries), good fiber, calcium, Vit C. YUM.
Any way you eat it, its thick, rich, creamy, and doesn't have that Dannon taste.
Where can I buy yogurt from buffalo milk? I live in Hunsville AL.
