Daily Scoop: Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream

2008_08_08-IceCream.jpgDo you drink much green tea? How about matcha - powdered green tea? We've seen a lot of matcha-flavored baked goods lately, but this ice cream looks even more appealing.

The herbal, slightly spiky flavor of matcha pairs very nicely with the sweet creamy goodness of ice cream. We are definitely thinking about trying this one!

Have you ever made a matcha ice cream?

i've had good green tea ice cream and I've had bad green tea ice cream. I love the green tea ice cream at the Chinatown ice cream factory! :)

Topaz Thai in midtown Manhattan: every time I go to New York, I must have their green tea ice cream, served in a half a coconut shell. Delish.

I use a similar recipe to this and it never seems to have enough green tea. It's never that green, and it never has a very strong taste. I'm afraid I'm going to end up putting in maybe a quarter cup. Even if I can get it on Belaire it may end up being a very pricey ice cream.

But worth every bite just the same! I want to put it in some Mochi as you suggested. My quest for the Holy Grail of ice cream recipes continues...
