Traditional Mason Cash Pudding Basins

2007_11_21-MasonCash.jpg

Plum pudding is a hallmark of British cooking, especially at Christmas. English pottery manufacturer Mason Cash has produced a classic and widely recognizable steamed pudding basin for hundreds of years. In fact, the British royal household gives their staff Christmas plum puddings packaged in Mason Cash basins.

This unique company is closing their doors, however, and only a limited amount of these traditional bowls are still available. Sets of red and blue basins are available for $27.95 through Lehman's, and a few white basins are still available individually through Amazon.

I think my ISI silicone mixing bowls can be used for steamed pudding as well but I don't think I will be making pudding anytime soon.

Now Mason Cash I love. And I am very sad to hear they are closing.

I kid you not - but it has been widely reported for some years that HM now buys her puddings at Tesco.
