The Bake Porter: Bake, Carry, and Serve in Style

2008_04_28-Porter.jpgWe just received some very nice shots of a product we loved at the Housewares show. It's a very simple idea, really, but well-executed and nicely made. Remember those cute cupcakes we posted this morning? How do you get those carefully decorated little cakes across town without smooshing, smearing, or breaking?

2008_04_28-Porter2.jpgEnter the Bake Porter from Reston Lloyd and PrepCo. This line comes in several varieties; there's a 9x13 baking pan and cupcake pan as well as a 6 cup jumbo muffin pan, baking pan, loaf pan and round cake pan. The lid can also serve as a dish or as a display stand for the pan of cupcakes or sheet cake. The lid is tall and sturdy so it doesn't smoosh the cupcakes or cake underneath.

The reason we liked this product so much was that it is much more multi-functional than some of the plastic cupcake and cake carriers out there that we've seen. This one can go straight from the oven to the car (or subway) to the table. They're heavy and well-made, with rubber grips on the lid that tightly hold onto the pan. We also like that each piece can be used for several purposes.

2008_04_28-Porter3.jpgWith the retail price projected to be around $29.99 this is one new product we're almost definitely picking up when it comes out at the end of July.

i'm wondering the same thing - maybe the cups are shallower than normal muffin/cupcake baking pans so it's easier to pick them up in the middle? it's hard to tell from the picture.
