Product: Le Creuset in a New Color

2006_12_11CarribeanLeCreu.jpgAttention shoppers! Bloomingdale's now has Le Creuset cookware in an exciting and exclusive new color - Caribbean.

Something about it feels really contemporary and sort of retro at the same time. I just love it. It reminds me of my very first kitchen after graduating from college and moving to LA. I had painted the cabinets the exact same color and one wall behind my stove a limey apple green. I was sort of influenced by the colorful eclecticism of Monica's kitchen on Friends.

As tantalizing as this new color is, so too is the price, a delicious 30% off. For a 7 quart round Dutch Oven that regularly goes for $265, it's now $185. With braising season upon us, it's tempting to pick one up. Plus if you do, you get a 2 1/4 quart baking dish (a $45.00 value) thrown in with your purchase. But act soon. The sale runs from Thursday, December 14th through Tuesday the 19th.

Oh, nice. That color would really pop in my kitchen (which favors celery green). Too bad all my extra funds are going towards Christmas presents for others and not me. ;) That and there are no Bloomingdales in a 500 mile radius of me.

Maybe I'll luck out and the Le Creuset Outlet shop near me will get the color in the future.

I purchased an amazing pot on Smartbargains.com that has quickly become my kitchen favorite. Same look and weight as the one above, just that the price is a very reasonable: 34.00

Here's the link. You won't be sorry, I promise.

If you are in the market for enameled cast iron, also check out the new Mario Batali line...a 6QT size for $99.99 in great colors:

Update: I continue to rave about the pot mentioned in my post back on December 12th. Truly is a beautiful piece. Heavy, well sized for large soups, sauces, chickens, etc. Gave them as gifts to cook friends. Everyone thinks I spent a fortune. No branding on the item. Perfect!!
