These hardwood skewers are treated with all-natural oils and herbal extracts and come in flavors like Citrus Rosemary and Hickory BBQ. Supposedly the oils infuse meat or veggies as they cook.
Interestingly, the FAQ section on the Seasoned Skewers website says it's not necessary to soak the skewers, but you can — and then they recommend soaking them in beer or wine to enhance the flavor. Apparently the oils aren't diluted by the soaking. We even though of soaking in chicken broth. (Maybe a good idea for regular skewers, too.)
The skewers are also rectangular to keep food from spinning around while you cook it.
We think this might be a fun gift for a grilling fanatic who has everything. What about you? Has anyone tried Seasoned Skewers?
Buy them for $8.95 at Sur La Table.

While I haven't tried the Seasoned Skewers brand, I've used several different flavors of similar wood grilling skewers made for Target which I love. The flavor, however, is subtle and better used on delicate meats like fish and shrimp rather than steaks which hardly reflect the flavor at all.

I got these at Whole Foods last summer, can't comment on the flavor infusion as the (overkill) thickness of the wood split all of the veggies we tried to use with them.

I tried these a couple of years ago and thought they were awful. To me it tasted as if i shoved flavored incense sticks into my meats and vegetables.
I had a barbecue party and everyone was really bummed.

I bought these recently. Thought they were cool, but figured there was no way they were going to actually season my food. Was I ever wrong! I got the Thai Lime Coconut, which happens to be my favorite flavor combo. The smell of them was dreamy!!! I soaked them as directed, skewered some shrimp and grilled them. The flavor was amazing! The kids even identified the coconut without knowing the skewers were flavored. I plan to buy more, and soon!

We tried these and I'm not sure if what's oozing out of them while on the barbie actually is good for you.
They did add flavour but I wouldn't use them again. I'd use my normal smoking technique to get the desired flavour.
