New KitchenAid Stand Mixer Attachment: The BeaterBlade

2008_04_18-BeaterBlade.jpgRemember the SideSwipe Spatula Mixer Blade? It's an attachment paddle for your stand mixer, and it seems like they were on to something, because here is another whole crop of custom paddles that help you mix things better and cleaner with your stand mixer. Enter: The Beaterblade.

2008_04_18-BeaterBlade2.jpgThe BeaterBlade is like the Sideswipe in that it has silicone fins to help it scrape and fold ingredients as they are mixed. Their website claims that it virtually eliminates hand-scraping and batter build-up on the blade.

Also, the BeaterBlade is launching a large range of mixer options; their product will fit KitchenAid®, CuisinartTM, Viking®, and DeLonghi® stand mixers.

They will be available in early May; no word yet on pricing. What do you think - do you want a spatula beater for your KitchenAid?

I don't really find it that incovenient to just do a quick scrape down with a spatula.

i think it's pretty neat! i'd get one. i only use my grandma's old kitchenaid mixer when making mashed potatos or whipped cream or somesuchthing, but i find myself annoyed by scraping. So! i'm in!

If it's not too pricey, I'd definitely look into it.

i do, but i've read on the kitchenaid forums that it's not recommended that you use these because it puts extra stress on the machine.

my problem is that i keep ruining wooden spoons by getting a little too ambitious with my side-scraping...maybe this is a tool i should invest in!

or maybe you should stop the machine before you scrape

I picked one of these up at Crate and Barrel the other weekend and just used it to make some cookies. I did like how It pulled everything off the sides which made for less waste of ingredients while mixing. I do, however, wish it were metal like the others that came with it rather than the plastic it is made from. Other than that I am happy with it.
