New From Microplane: Ultra Coarse Grater

2009_07_30-Microplane.jpgWe know that many of you just love your Microplanes, so if you've been waiting for a Microplane model that can handle cabbage, potatoes, and other chunky things, this is it.

This new grater from Microplane fills in their line of specialty graters with a model that can handle truly coarse grating. Potatoes, cabbage, beets — great for latkes and shredded salads. You probably don't need this at all if you already have a box grater, but if you're starting from scratch you might prefer a couple of Microplanes, which can be stored flat in a drawer, to a more bulky type of grater.

• Find it! Available exclusively at Williams-Sonoma through November 1.

• Similar model: Extra Coarse Grater, $16.95 at Microplane

I have the Microplane box grater. It is amazing!

The blade on the slicer scares me, though!

Technically, that is the New Microplane Gourmet Series Ultra Coarse grater. The grating surface and teeth are larger then the Extra Coarse. I believe it is only available at Williams Sonoma at this time. I know this because I took that photo and I designed the packaging.
