New Color from Le Creuset: Dijon Yellow
International Home and Housewares Show 2008

2008_03_24-LeCreuset.jpgAlong with the new, beautiful colors from France we saw at the Housewares show last week, there was this Dijon yellow from Le Creuset. Is it really new, though? Have you seen yellow from Le Creuset before this? More below...

2008_03_24-LeCreuset2.jpgThis color is certainly very cheery and mustard-y as its Dijon color name implies. We like the brightness and warmth; the booth was gleaming from two rows away! Yellow was a big color. We predict that the popularity of yellow and grey in home and fashion is making its way into the kitchen as well.

We also like, however, the figue and eggplant shades we saw at Emile Henry and the stunning new titanium finish from Staub.

What do you think about this Le Creuset color? Do you like it? What colors do you own now, and which are your favorites?

As a lifelong fan of the color yellow and currently working on outfitting a yellow/chrome/black kitchen, I must say those are gorgeous! Is that gradient from bright, sunshine yellow to the darker more orangey yellow just the photos or is that how the color is? Either way, time for me to start saving!

There was a slight gradient, I believe, but not quite so dramatic as the photos would have you believe. Staub also has a yellow with a really gorgeous yellow gradient.

I'm not a yellow fan at all. I have a pink kitchen. I really wish that there was a pink Le Creuset dutch oven -- not just the baking dishes. Oh well :)

I can never decide which Le Creuset color I like best. I started out my burgeoning collection with the red ramekins and have since added some blues and bright greens. I'd love to throw in some yellow! These are so gorgeous and bright.

My first Le Creuset piece was a yellow grill pan much like these, although no gradient. Maybe a bit more bright, school-bus-ish.

I have a kiwi green (with the gradient) teapot from Le Creuset. And my dutch oven is blue. So I haven't committed really, but I love the green best.

I'm a big fan of "flame" the orange variety. But this yellow really is bright and cheery.

I wouldn't want to own most of the yellow pieces myself (I prefer my red Le Creuset collection), but it looks like a worthwhile color to add to their line. The gradation looks especially nice.

I wonder what color the pots are when they get really hot. I know my dutch oven turns dark dark red when I use it to make no-knead bread. Maybe the heat would bring out the orange undertones in this pot? It would be interesting to see.

I love orange and yellow in combination and that's what my kitchen is decorated with. This yellow is amazing but I still don't understand why the yellow/gray combination is gaining popularity to me they just don't seem to go together.

I have a 3-1/2 qt round dutch oven in Dijon, which I got from Williams-Sonoma in January. I love it! Like most New Yorkers, I have limited cabinet space to store pots and pans in, so this one is a permanent fixture on my stovetop, whether it's in use (which is almost every day) or just waiting for me to cook something yummy. I've found it to be one of the most versatile pots ever, especially for all the winter braising, soups and steps I've been making. My kitchen has black floors and countertops and white appliances and cupboards (it's a rental). I think my bright yellow pot ads a bit of energy to the room! Love it love it love it!

I also have a LeCreuset Dijon dutch oven that my mother picked up for me at Tuesday Morning. I think this color has been around for a few years. (I got mine at least 2 years ago) It really is a great multi-purpose pot and also sits on my stove at all times.

I LOVE that yellow! I have a 4.5qt in red which is the only one I bought new (quite a steal at $80, delievered a few years ago.) My other items are blue, orange, and a handsome gray, all of which I bought at thrift stores or on eBay "nearly new" for a song.

They have a chestnut brown that is just delicious.

I'll take whatever colors I can find cheap, LOL

Oh dear God I think I'm about to make Erin cry, I have the elusive Le Creuset pink 5 quart french oven as well as the pink 2.5 quart heart shaped pot and I got them BOTH at Tuesday Morning out of all places. Definitely sign up for their online weekly newsletters.

I also have a dijon Doufeu by Cousance, the company Le Creuset bought out. This was a color that they used 40 years ago, I bought it on ebay for a steal & couldn't believe the rich vibrant color. I'm glad Le Creuset brought it back!
