Italian Ravioli Ejector Stamps from Sur La Table

2008_10_17-Ravioli.jpgWe try to keep our utensil drawer lean and mean. We keep the unitaskers to a minimum. But that doesn't mean we can't look (and sigh over) a few focused tools that promise us that we'll do things like make ravioli from scratch.

2008_10_17-Ravioli2.jpgThese ravioli cutters mark, cut, and seal ravioli in one step. The automatic ejector easily removes the ravioli from the stamp. You can get them in a round or a square version. We think they're awfully pretty, especially with that wooden handle.

Of course, we'll probably keep on doing our ravioli the old-fashioned way: we cut out the dough with small biscuit cutters, fill, and seal the edges with a damp paper towel. It's time-consuming, but worth it for fresh homemade ravioli.

But sometimes it's fun to look at such a sweet little tool and pretend that our yearly ravioli-making party will turn into a weekly habit. Do you make ravioli at home? Have any helpful tips?

One of my favorite parts of making ravioli with my grandma as a kid was always getting to cut them. We always made them in sheets sort of like above. They came out all sorts of shapes and sizes.

i use a water glass to cut my ravioli... though i too long to have lots of kitchen space for culinary luxuries such as these.
