Innovative Cutting Boards

2006_01_24-cutting-boards.jpg
This week over at Book of Joe they're taking a look at innovative cutting boards that feature a front and back lip to keep the board from slipping and keep the sliced and diced from rolling away, respectively.

The reversible maple board on the left, made by John Boos, is $139.99.

The beechwood board on the right is available for $49.00

Brandy, me too! I know that it was under $10 and works great.

LOL
the table-sized cutting board I inherited from my grandma is structured like that. A marvelous 80 year old innovation....

I have the Ikea version of this too, but it's warped and I find that some tastes (onion, garlic, strong cheese) get stuck in it. If I chop lettuce on it the next day, the old tastes get stuck in them.

Like Chris said, my wooden cutting board (10 years old at least) keeps smells like onion and garlic in it, so I use that one for "savory" things, and I have a smaller one I use for fruit or salad items that I don't want to pick up any smells. You could probably rub half a lemon on it to get the smell out - I've heard it works for getting garlic smell off your fingers. Never tried it though - has anyone else?

I use several wooden cutting boards just to avoid the problem with smell; one for onion, garlic and other strong smelling stuff; one for other vegetables etc, one for meat and one for poultry; works fine.
