Hot or Not: Magnetic Measuring Spoons

2007_04_25-Spoons.jpg

We saw these magnetic measuring spoons ($5.99, Organize Everything) and wondered what you'd think about them. Even though we keep our measuring spoons out in the open, on a hook, something about using them to stick postcards to a fridge seems slightly eww. What do you think? Gimmicky gadget? Or time-saving, efficient storage solution?

I think the concept of the magnetic spoons is great, but I think you'd have to keep them either seperate or use them as decorative magnets, not both. Might have to DIY my own set because otherwise they're easily knocked down from the shelf we have them on if we're not careful.

i have these. they were a gift. i never ever use them as measuring spoons because i never think to look on my fridge for measuring spoons, and also because of the ick factor, which is inexplicable -- why would they be MORE exposed to germs than, say, my microplane, which also hangs in my kitchen, or my other measuring spoons, which sit in a drawer? still: ick. they remain magnets only, and i woudn't have bought them for myself and wouldn't buy them for someone else. some things should stay single purpose.

So, what do you do with all the junk the magnet's holding up while you're measuring?
