Hot or Not: Finger Guard

2007_11_28-FingerGuard.jpgThis Flexible Green Finger Guard ($7.50 at Kitchenworks) is designed to protect your fingers while slicing and dicing vegetables. The shield is hinged so it can bend with finger movement.

We feel like this would just make us clumsier with a knife. But perhaps it has its uses - teaching knife skills to children, perhaps? What do you think? Would this finger guard be helpful?

Practice, practice, practice!

Better to become comfortable with the knife rather than comfortable with the finger guard.

Seems kind of like training wheels. Some people think it's a good idea, I think it's better to just learn properly from the start.

I can always convince myself somehow that I need things like olive-pitters and lettuce knives, but this is too ridiculous for even me.
