Good Product: Lodge Miniature Skillet

2008_04_02-Mini-Skillet.jpgWe loved the miniature skillet that Devesh uses for toasting spices in this kitchen tour: Devesh and Tara's Spice Pantry. We went looking for it and the good news is that it's a heck of a deal...

It looks like his skillet is made by Lodge. We like Lodge - they make their products right in West Virginia and their cast iron is well-made and lasts forever. And this little one? Only $5!

I use these routinely to make Dutch Babies, er, German Pancakes. I have no idea how old mine are, I got them used for much less than $5.

Currently a few of my nice teflon pans (calfalon) are starting to lose there teflon. They're ~10 years old now. I'm annoyed by it enough that I think I'll just save my money and get a few more cast iron things. Too bad you can't get cast iron sauce pans and soup pots. I guess you could, but they might be called cauldrons!

The hardware store near our house sells these mini skillets as ash trays. Classy!

Thanks Faith! this is perfect for spices -- the pan I use is way too big, and it is nice to have one devoted solely to spices.
