Folding Cutting Board

2007_05_23-Board.jpgOur spring cleaning dash has us thinking beyond products that help us clean our kitchen and looking for products that keep it from getting dirty in the first place.

While inadvertently flinging tiny broccoli florets all over the kitchen last night, trying to scrape them in a straight line off our otherwise wonderful wood board, we did think rather wistfully of this Folding Cutting Board ($14, MOMA). It comes in white and green and folds to let you gracefully transfer chopped ingredients.

One less mess to clean up off the floor. We like that.

These also work from Crate and Barrel.

Faith, you and I had the same night last night. I'm still finding little green nubbins all over my kitchen.

You know, I feel God should reward me for eating my broccoli, not punish me!

We have those flexi mats from Crate and Barrel and we absolutely love them. You can curve them up into a little half pipe shape to dump chopped veggies into the pan/bowl and they're so thin that we can store them in a drawer and barely notice they're there!

I actually found this cutting board hard to work with - it's a great idea but it doesn't really sit flat against the counter, so I always ended up making just as much of a mess by trying to chop on a wobbly board.
