Design Friday: Art and Cook

2007_07_27-Design.jpg

Art and Cook is a design group focused on "exploring the Zen of food preparation." They developed a technology for air-filled handles to their products that they say makes them lighter and more efficient, and they use other materials like zinc to make them long-lasting. They're after visual and sensual gratification in their kitchen tools, they say - and we must say that the tools above do look pretty nifty. From the left: Perforated Flipper, Masher, Citrus Reamer, Yolker, and Pizza Wheelie.

We haven't actually tried any of their very interesting looking tools - has anyone come across these?

I saw their large spatula at Macy's and really liked it. It seemed like a good all purpose tool. The kind of spoon-spatula thing you could hold on to while cooking a whole meal.

My problem was that it was relatively expensive and Macy's only had it neon raspberry or green. I didn't think those colors were very appetizing.
