Home Cooking: Improvised Cookbook Holder

2008_09_08-BookHolder.jpgOur new kitchen is slightly bigger than the last one, but it's still short on precious counter space. This just means there are more opportunities to improvise!

2008_09_08-BookHolder2.jpgI was in the middle of a frittata and the book just didn't have room anywhere on the counter. Then I realized that the dish drainer was actually the perfect size, shape, and form to hold an open cookbook. One quick dry later and ta-da! Cookbook propped up perfectly.

That's just my kitchen - but it seemed to make the best of limited counter space and a sink that doesn't have room to leave the drainer inside. (It's still a great sink - very deep and wide - but has just a single well. No double sink for a drainer.)

How do you prop up your cookbooks? Do you have a safe space out of the way for them, or do you let them sit right next to the stove and splatters?

recipes that I printed off the internet, I usually tape to the cupboard above where I am cooking. with cookbooks I tend to open the kitchen drawer and rest the book in it.

A drawer! That's a good idea.
