From the folks who brought you The Meatrix comes... Food Battle. There's a new video: Watch the good apple duke it out with the evil Twinkie for control of farm bill dollars. There's some statistics and a link to Daniel Imhoff's book Food Fight.
Props to Free Range Studios for helping to grow awareness of the Farm Bill and other issues that affect our food - they even give a link to contact your Congressman. See our discussion of the Farm Bill here.

I thought that this had already been voted on? Is the Bill still being discussed? The Food Battle link also connects back to this page; can that be fixed?

The House approved its reform-lite Farm Bill in late July. The action now turns to the Senate Ag Committee, chaired by Tom Harkin but populated by others who want to keep dishing out million dollar agrobusiness welfare checks and fueling the cirsis of obesity, agrofuel mania, and environmental degradation. There's still time to call your senators and tell them: (1) you want more money not less for conservation; (2) that you support caps on how much single "farm" operations can recieve; (3) that you want more money for rebuilding local and regional food webs in response to climate change, diminishing oil supplies, and the need to expand access to nutritional local organic and grass-pastured foods; (4) that you support a competition title that begins to roll back the market dominance of massive multinational grain traders, ethanol distillers, meatpackers, seed giants, and others. That's a beginning anyway. -- Dan I.
