Conscientious Cook: Eating Local in Winter

2007_03_09-Cook.jpgThere's only a month of winter left, but this last bit can be the hardest for those of us who are trying to eat seasonally. There's only so many potatoes and root vegetables one can take.

There is help, however! The folks over at 100 Mile Diet have a blog and updated local resources for eating locally, even in the darkest time of winter. It's a great site for support, encouragement, and inspiration, as well links to other resources. To find your own 100-mile radius, check out their nifty mapping tool.

The cover story of last week's Time magazine was an interesting article on eating locally and/or [and sometimes versus] eating organically. Clearly lays out all the challenges/benefits/drawbacks in a very balanced essay:
