Last minute wine tasting alert! Tonight, at Astor Wines in New York City, the folks from Gruet Winery of New Mexico (of all places) will be pouring their sparkling wines, all made in Methode Champenoise.
Last year I wrote an article about a little taste test we did of "budget sparklers" for the holidays. Gruet's Brut won, hands down. Plus, they have a great story.
So go meet these nice people and taste their wines. After sipping a bit of Gruet, why not pick up a bottle or two? Gruet runs only about $13/bottle.

Inspired by this write up, I picked up a bottle of the Domanie Ste. Michelle blanc de noir.
The bottle cost me $13 - so now I know my local wine store is overcharging.
Th wine was pleasing, with the slight sweet aftertaste and light fizz (is that the right word?)
Tip: goes well with spicy Indian food... try it with some Chicken curry!
nj_gal,
Next time get a bottle of Gruet! You'll probably like it!
