Christopher Kimball, the founder and editor of Cook's Illustrated and Cook's Country magazines and star of "America's Test Kitchen" on PBS, asked for questions from Kitchen readers.
This week, we're posting his replies. In today's Q&A, we get a taste of his dry New England wit:
Who does most of the cooking at your house? You or do you share the cooking efforts with other members of your family?
My wife Adrienne does all of the cooking during the week. We share the cooking on weekends. Our second oldest daughter, Caroline, is a terrific baker (her cakes look a lot better than mine) so she always pitches in for parties or on a Sunday when she nothing else to do.
Our biggest food event each year is the annual Pig Roast. We feed almost 200 people although lots of folks also bring their own covered dishes. We provide the pig, the BBQ baked beans, and seven or eight different desserts.

Thank God for Christopher Kimball. Before my boyfriend moved in (and brought his America's Test Kitchen cookbook with him) I ate lunch meat turkey in a tortilla every night of my life. Now I get things with reductions and rubs.

Casey, imagine if you'd wound up with my boyfriend, who, prior to the both of us getting jobs near home that allow us to visit my apartment for lunch, ate a sandwich with a single slice of turkey for lunch every day for five years!

My husband does all of the cooking and I do all of the dishes. It was a deal we make back before we were married and I have a feeling that it will be around for a long time. My cookings skills leave much to be desired. Plus he loves to try out new recipes or make up his own which can lead to some very tasty meals.

I do all the cooking and my husband does the dishes. I love cooking, so I don't mind. I hate doing the dishes, but he doesn't mind doing them, so it works out well. My husband does like to help bake bread and he roasts our coffee.

My husband (the chef) does the cooking, I do the baking, and our kids do the dishes.

Until we broke up this weekend (sigh), my boyfriend and I did about half and half of the cooking. One of us would be responsible for the main entree and the other would do a side dish of some sort. I did most of the food shopping, while he did most of the dishes. I did all of the baking - why do some people think that baking is some weird mysterious skill that only the few select shall ever know?
