Take a look at this sweet cupcake with a cherry on top. Well, it's not actually a cherry; it's just as cute but more practical.
Take a look at this sweet cupcake with a cherry on top. Well, it's not actually a cherry; it's just as cute but more practical. These little ball-topped picks are from Goose Grease. They're handpainted and sealed with non-toxic materials. We love the simplicity of these; how easy would it be to bake and frost a sweet cake and then quickly pop these on. No decorating bag, no mess!
Here are the toppers showcased above:
• Round red topper, $1 for 1
• Birthday cupcake toppers, $10 for 12. Choose your own colors.
• Cupcake half toppers, $10 for 12. Choose your own colors.
• Mushroom cupcake toppers, $15 for 12

Hmm, I'm not sure that these really are so practical. I can imagine people biting into these and feeling disappointment... not to mention crunching, the piercing of shards, choking, etc...
And this assumes you're going to get all of them back afterwards. What if you bring a bunch of cupcakes to a social function? The toppers might be thrown away, left behind somewhere, fall to the floor, etc.

ABSOLUTELY useless! Not to mention dangerous for kids. You'd be better of sticking a lollipop, maltball or some other kind of candy on top.

and then you have to wash the ones you do get back.

And find a place to store them in the kitchen, and throw them away. Seems like lots of silly waste. Use a gumball or something edible instead.

What's wrong with using a real cherry to top it off? Or a real berry? I agree with the other post- this is a useless item.

Until someone breaks a tooth or something. I would never want to put something inedible disguised as edible with food.

Agreed! The whole point of a cupcake is that you can eat all of it! The same effect could easily be achieved with a jelly bean or M&M.

What the... yeah I guess it's cute, but why top a real cupcake with a fake cherry?

Just curious, why did you think this would be more practical in the first place?

Might I suggest using Peeps and jelly beans instead?

It's a little late for an April Fools joke, don't you think?

I agree that this idea is not very practical.
It does, however, make me want to top my next batch of cupcakes with wildly impractical items that are clearly inedible, like marbles or pebbles.

gosh. i think the cherry would be more practical. you don't have to wash it and store it afterwards.

Hey! I thought they were cute and whimsical. Practical bad choice of words. Oh well, have to give everyone something to snark about once in a while, eh? :-)

Faith, that was pretty darn funny.

this is really cute-- it looks adorable and modern and stylish-- but i definitely prefer edible toppers on cupcakes! it would be sad for a kid to think they got this awesome cherry candy thing and then found out that it was a plastic stick!

are you serious?! these are ridiculous. who would pay for a fake cherry? a ginormous fake sprinkle? what person looking at a cute, homemade cupcake is thinking "oh, i don't want that little delicious cherry on top"? and don't get me started on liabilities... if it looks like food and some kid eats/swallows/breaks a tooth/chokes on it... oy.
i bet there's a fat disclaimer on the packaging for those things.
