Look! Two Pound Wheel of Brie at Trader Joe's

2008_12_01-Brie.jpgYes, that is one entire kilo of Brie. Only at Trader Joe's - the home of Pound Plus chocolate and supersized cheese. See just how big it is, compared to our keys, below...

2008_12_01-Brie02.jpgThis wheel of Brie, as outsized as it is, did give us a good idea for a holiday appetizer. It is, after all, only $12.99.

So you take that $12.99 wheel of Brie, and top it with some of that leftover cranberry sauce that I am sure most of you have lurking in the refrigerator. Mix the sauce with a few pecans, some brown sugar, and some rum. Pile it on top of the Brie (take the top rind off first) and put it in the oven until bubbly. Serve with crackers.

How many people do you think this ultra-easy appetizer would serve? We think at least 30 -- maybe more.

Oh brie is so decadent and delicious. I could never have so much in the house! I like baked brie with apricot jam. Almost any jam or chutney put on top or inside of brie and then wrapped in pastry is a match made in heaven. Here is a good baked brie cooking video.

I was so going to make that recipe for my Christmas party and was worried I'd have to make two or three so there would be enough - this is PERFECT!
