Eating light, for us, simply means eating less. American portion sizes have grown and grown, and we believe that many of us have no idea what a normal portion size should be. Sometimes it's useful to measure food portions just to regain a healthy sense of size. These storage cups seem like a good way to do that, and to pack your lunch for the week too.
The tray and portion cups are made by Fit & Fresh, which means that they are probably made of non-leaching #5 polypropylene plastic, with no phthalates. Fit & Fresh has been ahead of the curve with their plastics, and they also are very good at thinking creatively about lunchbox solutions.
This particular set is nice because the tray keeps everything organized and neat in the refrigerator, and it's easy to stack, too. Also, the cups have their portion size printed clearly on the sides.
We wouldn't trade in our current set of plasticware for this set, but if we needed to buy new boxes for lunch and food to-go, we would certainly look first at these.

We all know we could measure/eyeball what we eat and then put it in different glass containers... I'm not sure why, but I want one!

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll use a measuring cup... it looks like a baby food tray to me.

I think it's hideous, and I would never have it in my house. Regardless, I don't use any plasticware.

I'm not quite as hysterical as "fade on violet," but I'd like to know the rating of the plastic, and it appears not to be available at the Web site, which also looks a bit wonky. I wouldn't leave my personal information there to order one, even if I knew the plastic rating. Afraid this one's a miss, though it inspires one to cast a fresh eye over portions. Americans really have become piggies, haven't we?

I'd like to see more research in these kinds of posts, please. To say this is "probably" non-leaching plastic isn't enough. Additional research would make these posts more useful and less like an advertorial (a criticism I've seen posted in the comments a lot around AT).

in my experience, fit and fresh is not air tight.

I second mascarah on saying that fit and fresh is not air tight. I have three different sets by them and with all three I've found the juice from my watermelon leak all over the place. =( I'm switching to lock n lock because of it.

I wouldn't say I'm hysterical... Hah! I simply think using glassware is preferable to plastic. It just looks like something that'll end up in a landfill after it gathers dust in your cupboards for a few years.

I understand what the post is getting at - and I find it admirable - but the object in question doesn't really do it for me as it really does look like a baby food tray. Wouldn't a better way to manage portion control be to buy a scale and measure food by weight, rather than volume?
