Brown Bag Thursday: What's For Lunch?

2007_12_06-Lunch.jpg

What's for lunch today? Are you taking time out for a hot lunch on a cold day? Eating out? Brown-bagging it? Still eating (heaven forbid) Thanksgiving leftovers?

Here's our lunch today: leftover pulled pork, spaetzle dumplings, and a perfectly tart clementine. Tell us - what's in your lunch bag?

A (home-made) chef salad, with Marechal cheese ( http://www.le-marechal.ch/ ), a bit of jambon de Paris, and a perfectly hard boiled (with the centre deep orange and slightly squidgy) Swiss egg. With cucumber, mache, aragula, friseé, and tomato.

I brought slices of leftover ginger sesame pork loin on two pieces of homemade, whole wheat seedy bread with lettuce, tomato, a bit of mayo and dijon mustard. I also have some baby carrots and an anjou pear. Mmm...

Trader Joe's Harvest Grains blend with a handful of cranberries and raisins thrown in with a pinch of cinnamon and cumin and a few red pepper flakes. I was going for a sweet/savory thing but I don't think it really worked... ha. I ate it anyway...

I feel a lot better about making large lumpy spaetzle after seeing yours.

Lunch was delicata squash red curry with green beans and corn.

Oh yes, I much prefer them that way to the tiny ricer/colander types. I like two-bite spaetzle...

We had last night's kale, potato, and chorizo soup along with some nice hearty toasted bread... just in time for a power outage that lasted 3 hours! Good thing we got the soup warmed up first!

I tried to get down some tortilla soup I'd made a few days ago, similar to this one (even better, actually), but the fairies of flu land aren't quite letting this food writer eat yet. Glad you all are nourishing yourselves!

Leftover potato cheese soup from our game night on Sunday. Very tasty hot or cold. Must include beer in the cooking.

Also, an orange that one of the secretaries tossed at me.
