Aladdin's New Lunchbox: Move Over, Mr. Bento

2007_03_27_lunchbox1.jpgWe took a guided tour of this new lunch box for grown-ups at the Housewares Show. You asked us for more pictures . . . Aladdin emailed these over today.

This lunch box is broad but relatively thin; the better to slip into messenger bags, Aladdin says. The completely removable lid is an on-the-go placemat and makes clean up easier.

The red leftover/sandwich holder has a movable divider to accommodate varying amounts of leftovers. On salad days, swap out the red insert for the green one.

2007_03_27_lunchbox2.jpgWe haven't tried it yet, but the salad set comes complete with a cutting board and dressing cup. There's a crisper in the bottom of the salad bowl.

You can buy the lunchbox with the red insert from Aladdin for $19.99. The salad set is an additional $12.99. It is also sold at some Target stores.

Thanks for the extra info about this lunchbox! Although Mr. Bento is a bit clunky, I'm really not into the mini-briefcase style of the Aladdin lunchbox. I do like the dividers, though. I suppose I'll have to check it out the next time I find myself near a Target store.

What I'd REALLY love is if someone would "pimp my lunchbox" and make me a cute carrying bag to replace the dorky one that came with Mr. Bento. Anybody?

I would love to have a lunch theme month. I'm always looking for something better than sandwiches and left overs to take to work.

yep, i'm a big pasta salad fan--it's my go-to one-dish meal for lunch-- and would love to hear some good recipes.

okay, that had nothing to do with lunchboxes. but i bet a pasta salad would look mighty pretty INSIDE one! :)

For thinkingwoman - It's nothing too fancy, but my favorite pasta salad recipe... instead of dressing I use store-bought pesto, some olive oil to thin it out, and fresh lemon juice. Taste along the way and add more or less of whatever you like. The lemon ads a really nice fresh flavor. I like it with some fresh mozz, broccoli, and tomatoes, but I think pesto goes well with anything :)
