I love a good cocktail book that has photos in it, and I especially love cocktail books that combine recipes for wonderful snacks that can be served with them. Southern Cocktails: Dixie Drinks, Party Potions, and Classic Libations by Denise Gee does just that. I'm a very visual person, so seeing each recipe in photos helps me to decide what I want.
I'm one of those people who loves hosting cocktail parties. This book is perfect because it has both classic and newer drink recipes. The Cajun Bloody Mary recipe is terrific - I've made it at brunches and it always gets rave reviews. I make the Spicy Pimento Cheese and Beer-Battered Green Beans with Remoulade for almost all my parties and there is never any left. People who have been to my cocktail parties always ask me to make them another Mint Julep or Blueberry Martini when they visit.
The book is hardcover and printed on thick, durable paper. The author also offers some practical tips on setting up a bar and on making toasts.

Just added it to my Amazon wish list. I need more books in my apartment like I need a hole in my head, but that one looks delightful! Creative and posh drinks, with paired recipes? And Southern, to boot? Yes, please.

I went to the library today to search for an old friend cookbook I get every few years and could not find it or remember the name except, Lee. I looked at this book on Amazon and it turns out Denise Gee worked on that book with her uncle, Lee Bailey. I ordered a couple of the Bailey books I love already and will be getting this one too.

I am so coveting those Julip cups. What I would give for a set of 4 or more.
