There were some great suggestions in last week's invitation to join our book club. So, starting as soon as you can get your hands on a copy of My Life in France by Julia Child and Alex Prud'Homme, we'll be delving into one of the world's most beloved food icons, before the dirty term "celebrity chef" had even been uttered. Whoopee!
It's available in hardcover and paperback at Amazon ($10.17). New and used copies are available at Powell's ($13.00 and up) and The Strand ($11.21 and up). We also found it to be available at many New York City Public Library branches, so if you'd rather borrow than buy, check with your local library.
We will remind you to get ready, set, and go next week, and then give you another week to crack it open, followed by a discussion post once a week. And remember, there won't be a quiz. If you plan to participate, sign up below in your best Julia voice. The first five (with a US mailing address - but please do not post it here - we will get it from you later) to sign up get a copy from us, on the house.

A funny -- and kind of pathetic! - story. I bought the book last year (with a generous borders' coupon), and put it aside. It's been in a box since we moved last September. I was so excited about the book club and wonderful selection that I ran out and bought a copy last night, only to have my husband remind me -- don't you already have this??
As the saying goes, out of sight -- out of mind. But I'm looking forward to having this on my mind for the next couple of weeks!
