Good Product: Ceylon Jumbo Ice Tea Jug from Bodum

2008_07_01-IcedTeaPitcher.jpgWell, summer's in full swing and the Fourth of July is only a few days away! We've been drinking a lot of iced tea, and this pitcher is perfect for it.

What's so special about it? Well, for starters, it has a built-in infuser for adding herbs such as mint or lavender, or citrus slices. It's really neat because it holds these items in place and keeps them out of your drink while still extracting flavor from them. Also, the sturdy, narrow shape is perfect for our already-full refrigerator. This pitcher slides in nicely and leaves room for our other pitcher of lemonade and our bottles of chilled white wine, and the watermelon we're keeping cold. It comes in two sizes (50 oz. and 102 oz.) so you can take your pick. The price 'aint too shabby, either. Thirsty? Get it here at Bodum.

I was on the hunt for a good iced tea pitcher and finally found this one at Target -- it really is great for making iced tea with your own infusions instead of being limited to just what you have in your tea cupboard ... and please tell me I'm not the only one who has a whole cupboard full of tea ...

I have this and love it. The infuser is perfect for loose teas, so I can make my favorite Jasmine #12 from Adagio iced. I put a bit of honey in before it goes into the fridge to cool off. Yummers. I'm inspired by the other uses listed for the infuser though. Time to get creative.

I have the smaller one. I usually do green tea plus dried spearmint leaves. When it has steeped, I remove those and put in fresh spearmint and a little agave.

On a somewhat related note, I constantly have a pitcher of iced tea in my fridge and my clear plastic pitcher is starting to get stained. Any good tips on cleaning this out?

Birdie-- you definitely aren't.

Also, we've been running into the same problem as tbe (though it's way past 'starting'). We haven't figured out a solution ourselves, so I definitely second that question.

To clean a tea pitcher: Put a couple of tablespoons of salt in the pitcher. Use a wedge of lemon, with the salt, to scrub the pitcher. This also works for stained coffee mugs...
