Between the holidays and the spring weather, this is feeling like a baking weekend to us! We can't think of anything better than getting out the flour and puttering around our kitchen for a few hours. Maybe we'll even be able to open a few windows and let in some fresh spring air! Do you have any baking plans in the works?
We're in the mood for something tried and true, something we've made a million times so we can just relax and cook without worrying how it will turn out. It's been a while since we made sourdough bread, so we think we'll refresh our starter and make a few loaves of that. A batch of cookies would also really hit the spot!
If you're in the mood but are lacking inspiration, here are a few of our favorite go-to recipes:
Mini Blueberry Lemon Muffins
Peanut Butter Oatmeal Monster Cookies
Brownie Cookies
Ginger Applesauce Cake
Mom's Rosemary Focaccia
Farmgirl's Oatmeal Toasting Bread
No-Knead Bread
What are you baking?

I was in the mood to bake yesterday. I made strawberry shortcake and Samoa cupcakes (from this recipe: http://lifeinapeanutshell.blogspot.com/2009/03/samoa-cookie-cupcakes-aka-caramel.html). I needed to find a way to get rid of the last of my girl scout cookies.
This weekend I'm baking (kinda) an old family recipe that make chocolate covered coconut eggs. I might dip some other things in chocolate if I'm going to go through the trouble of making chocolate sauce.

I'm definitely in the mood to bake. I plan to make the tart lemon tart from this site and add sliced ginger to it while it macerates this time. I might also do cookies to bring in to work. It's DEFINITELY baking weather.

I just bought a nice batch of strawberries at the store (I know, not local and not in season, but they were on sale and smelled so good.) I'm making strawberry shortcake tomorrow to treat my husband, who's been working so hard lately.

Argh, yes. Muuusssssttt baaaaaaake ssoooommmethiiiing!
I really wanted to try making naan today, but we don't have enough flour. My rosemary is calling to me with its delicious smell, but again I want to make bread with it and there's not enough flour.
I settled on making pink lemonade ice cream (from last summer's Best Lick contest; please tell me this is coming back this summer?)
Also, those muffins look fantastic. I must be really in the mood for carbs.

I baked the Garden Harvest Cake recipe in this month's Cooking Light, and it came out moist, flavor-packed and lovely -- less fat and sugar than my comparable zucchini cake recipe. Highly recommended for brunches or even as a snacking cake.

I made 2 loaves of sourdough and 2 loaves of sandwich bread. Also, brown sugar meringue cupcakes to use up the egg whites I had left after making butter pecan ice cream.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was in the baking-est mood this weekend. I made a chocolate cake, chai spice cookies, and mexican chocolate cookies.
