The gift of bread is simple, nourishing, and in some cases, really really exciting. A friend recently returned from her native Northern California with a loaf of Grindstone Bakery Sprouted Seed Spelt Bread for me. Major score.
It's made with organic whole spelt flour, purified water, organic rye starter culture, organic sprouted sesame, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, and Celtic sea salt. There's no yeast, dairy, or GMOs. Yesterday I had a slice browned in a little olive oil and topped with avocado and sea salt. This morning I had it toasted with butter and apricot jam.
If you live in the San Francisco Bay area, you can find the bread at these stores. And for those of us without such fortune, we can order it online, here. At $31 for four loaves, it's a little pricey, but it will make someone smile widely, and that's worth a lot.

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered some. It's hard to find true 100% rye bread. One of these days I'll learn to make my own.
This seems like a very, very healthy bread! What do you serve it with? Is it heavy? I'd love to know more. Thanks for any information you can give me!
You could serve the bread with anything but it is dense and does prefer to shine alone in the spotlight.
I have a thin slice nearly every day, untoasted with some olive oil and sea salt, it's the perfect snack. I have also been known to put a dab of cottage cheese on top.
It's not a "mop up the sauce on your plate" type of bread, it's too heavy for that but it is good with salad or soup. It's so dense that you will really only want a small slice or two.
