I've been thinking about one of these—I think it would come in really handy!! For pulled pork, bolognese, chili...I did a pulled pork in the oven recently and it just seemed wasteful to use that much gas...

So many things! First I'd make "Crockpot Venison" with mushrooms, onions, and root vegetables (my dad would be so proud!), then I'd use it just as a dutch oven to make chicken with 40 cloves of garlic (which will either make me the most or least popular apartment-dweller in my building), and then on to steel-cut oatmeal! I had such terrible luck with the first one, that only by winning one will I give it another try. The lid is not heavy enough and allows steam to escape, thus negating the entire "enclosed-steam-moisture-cooking" concept.

But, that said, I will give it another try if I win one, and I'd make white bean chicken chili.

I make this one in my crockpot now. It's a family favorite. If I were to win, it'd be the first thing I make in the new crockpot.

(Crockpot) Ham & Scalloped Potatoes

1 28oz package loose-pack frozen hash browns with onions & peppers (I use Ore-Ida. Not sure if other brands make these)
2 cups diced fully-cooked ham
1 2oz jar diced pimento, drained
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 11oz can condensed cheddar cheese soup
3/4 cup milk
1 TBSP snipped fresh parsley (I use dried, and it doesn't make much of a difference)

In a 3 1/2 quart slow cooker, combine hash browns, ham, pimiento and pepper. In a medium bowl, combine soup & milk. Stir until well combined, and pour over potato mixture. Mix everything to combine well.

Cover and cook on low-heat for 7 to 9 hours, or on high for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. To serve, stir in parsley.

(6-7 usually does it) the only other ingredient is "bay leaves" (2). once you smell this wonderfully easy dish, you realize you can have turkey often. the meat falls off the bones. it is the best dish i ever made in a slow-cooker. bake a few potatoes or whip up some stuffing, add cranberry sauce, and YOU HAVE A SURPRISINGLY easy and most delicious meal.

With the VersaWare slow cooker I could make one of my favorite meals: sauerbraten. It would be so much faster and easier as I can brown the meat in the crock pot saving me the clean up effort of another pan. I love how I could use the timer to ensure proper cooking, especially if I can't get home in time due to unforseen events, such as a longer than expected kids sporting event or a last minute business meeting. I could use it as a Dutch oven, too, making it truly versatile. It's a product every busy mom should have.

This pot is an excellent design to be able to brown meats first, then continue on to show cook. I always love to cook roasts in a slow cooker, but first you have to brown on the stove, then put in the slow cooker. The same thing happens when I prepare the gravy and must take the roast out and put the pan on the stove. What a time and toil saver!!
