apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Lodge Sportsman's Grill

2006_05_04-lodge-grill.jpgWith sunny skies predicted this weekend all over the country, it's time to start grilling outdoors, no? If you don't have a grill already, perhaps it's time to start thinking about investing in one. For apartment living, we like the Lodge Sportman's Grill ($69.95).

This little unit is ideal for patio or stoop cooking (we know a guy in the neighborhood who grills right on the sidewalk, sipping his wine and offering nibbles of his special lamb burgers). It is a classic hibachi-style charcoal grill with a nice 17" x 9" grilling surface with two adjustable heights.

The Sportsman's Grill is made by Lodge, the world's largest and oldest manufacturer of cast iron products, in business since 1896, so you know you're getting quality.

Grace,

If you have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, I highly recommend the ice cream maker attachment for it! I got one last summer and it is awesome! It makes ice cream, sorbet, even margaritas in about 12 minutes. The only caveat is that, in order to really be spontaneous, you need enough room to store the bowl in your freezer. Otherwise, you'd need to freeze the bowl overnight before making anything in it.

We use our grill in the fireplace. Works like a charm as long as your fireplace is operational to burn real wood you should have no problem.
