I received a very expensive cuisinart for xmas in 2006, and last month it just stopped working.

I ended up buying a kitchenaid model from amazon.

I actually like it more than my cuisinart. It included two slicer disks (thicker and thinner slices), and a small bowl insert, which I have found to be really handy.

David, did you reach out to Cuisinart for a replacement? I'd be interested to hear what their customer service is like. I've heard Cuisinart has a generous warranty policy.

I own a 30 year old Robot Coupe. They were the company that originally made the Cuisninart. My kids are fighting over who gets it in my will!

I bought a Kenwood MultiPro just yesterday. Also chosen to take up less counter space.

I don't own a food processor myself. I do have a blender though, which is really better for smoothies etc, but I do some things in that I would use a food processor for if I had one, and it works pretty well. I also have a little Tupperware 'happy chopper', which I love cos I can chop onions quickly and without tearing up!

My mum has a Cuisinart though. IIRC, she bought it in England in the late 70's or early 80's, and brought it back to Aus when my parents moved back here. She's had to get a couple of new bowls for it - they tend to crack a bit after 10 or 15 years ;) and I'm not sure about how long the blades last. She uses it reasonably often, and it still works great.

I had a toss up between Cuisinart and KitchenAid, in the end the 12-cup wide mouth KA won because it (Choppa) was welcome company to it's "brother" (Willis) my KA Stand Mixer on the counter.

I use it about 5 times a week and love it A LOT! I adore the mini bowl as well. I'm frankly surprised an Oster would top the KA or Cuisinart, and more surprised it's only a 10-cup which I think would almost be too small to handle different doughs that can be done in an FP.

Regardless, I always thought the stand mixer was a kitchen must have, and now I think food processors should be right up there too.

I always thought that of the newer models, the KitchenAid is tops (think I've seen reviews in other magazines).

No question though, the early Cuisinarts are in a class by themselves; pitty they were 'improved' over the years...

I suppose I'm old-fashioned, but I'm loyal to the Cuisinart. I have the one with the mechanical, paddle controls, which I much prefer over the push buttons that both some of the Cuisinart's have as do the KitchenAid. Honestly, I think sometimes editors will pick an off-brand (the Oster) just to have something new to say.

But I have to say that my KitchenAid stand mixer is my VERY favorite appliance.

I have an Oster that has both a small food processor attachment and a blender attachment, and I love it. It's what my mom has always used too. I think this is mine:
