With my luck, the colander would collapse in mid-drain. The potential to get burned with scalding water is too high for me to trust it.

Very hot! For my small kitchen space is a premium and this could fold up and go in a drawer so nice.

I think the circular kind that pop out of a flat surface are easier to use and since they can't separate and fall apart in mid-drain they're probably safer too.
