Good Question: How Can I Replace a Lost Food Processor Part?

2007-06_21_cuisinart_part_pusher.jpgUt-oh! We've lost the plastic part that pushes food down the shoot of our Cuisinart. Do you know how we can replace it?

Thanks!

Hi Justin and Kim,

While most kitchen stores do not carry parts for the electrics they sell, just about every thingamajig and whatchamacallit little part for kitchen electrics can be found on CulinaryParts.com, now part of San Francisco's The Gourmet Depot. Search their huge inventory by using the pull down menus on the left side of the site and don't be shy about calling them for help. They are experts. Just be careful that you're ordering parts for the particular model number of the machine you own.

By the way, Gourmet Depot also stocks refurbished kitchen items including the Kitchen Aid Artisan Stand Mixer ($174.95).

Good luck collecting the part you need to put your processor back together again. Readers, any other sources for spare parts?

i know this seems really "out there", but did you try.... oh, calling cuisinart?

once when i was little my sister flushed this little guy that went with her tow truck down the toilet, and my grandmother called tonka and they sent us another one (free!). at the very least it's worth a try to call cuisinart customer service and see.

OR, what the hell? Doesn't anyone know how to use the internet around here???

I agree with asn... try the manufacturer first. I've gotten replacement parts direct from KitchenAid for less than Culinary Parts was charging.

I needed to replace the same part (actually didn't deal with it for a few years and kept pushing food down with a wooden spoon, until the spoon got chewed up spewed splinters into my food...), so I did a Google search for my Cuisinart model (which is sort of old), found a few places that offered parts, and just picked the cheapest one.

The NYT does or did have an online shopping column and the columnist wrote a piece about searching for exactly what you are looking for. It must have been in the last year.

Bx - read my comment. The real thing works, wood leads to trouble.

Just use your fingers.

Or, you could get a replacement part from cuisinart. I got my juicing attachment replaced a few years ago--easy peasy.

You found your way to apartment therapy... Surely you've heard of ebay.

You can set up a "favorite search" option there and get email updates until you find the perfect plastic part that pushes food down the shoot of your Cuisinart.

"Ut-oh"?
UT?
I am fascinated by the variety of ways people spell the random sounds we make. I assume you mean the sound that I would spell "uh-oh".

Huh.
