We spotted this knife storage solution at Tasteologie and we were instantly smitten. How smart is this — it holds your knives and the rest of your kitchen utensils too. What a great small-space solution!
This knife block is made of untreated birch veneer, and it has a swooping open back behind the knife block to hold whisks, spatulas, and spoons. We love this solution — keeping your knives and utensils all in one, smartly-designed receptacle.
The only drawback is that this is only available in Europe from a small kitchen shop in Berlin. (At least, we haven't been able to find it stateside.) What do you think? Have you seen anything like this in the States?

Please, please find a source in the US. This is perfection.
Love at first sight. (Like many things from Berlin.)
It's cute. Are those global knives? I'm just worried it doesn't have enough slots. I have 2 chef's knives, a paring knife, and 4 steak knives in my current knife block.
It's not 2-in-1, but this knife block from Crate and Barrel saved my kitchen:

I don't understand why the vast majority of knife blocks are on a diagonal, they take up SO much extra counterspace! In this block, I can fit 3 chefs knives, 2 paring knives, a bread knife, a small serrated knife, and 4 steak knives in a fraction of the space that my old traditional knife block took up. Again, it's not quite as slick as the one featured here, but it's definitely worth a look!
