Let us know in our survey after the jump ... check out our recap of the finale here.
The only thing that is working for me about this show is that my husband makes a braying sound everytime Rory (the Satan offspring of Sandra Lee and Paula Dean) opens her teeth factory trap. That makes me laugh. Try it at home for yourself!
That's awful! I like Rory. I don't think she can pass for any sort of food expert, but I don't hate on her. I reserve that emotion for Sandra Lee and RR.I voted for Amy, even though she does come across as out of touch. Trying to cover for it by refering to fancy-shmancy cooking does NOT help.I liked the egg dish she cooked in the last episode. My girlfriend tried Rory's steak with carmelized asparagus the other night, and it was very good. Delish! Yumm-o! Or however I'm supposed to express delight at Food Network food.
I am also really bothered by Rory's teeth. She must have had some REALLY messed up teeth to settle on those caps (dentures?). She reminds me of that Dymo Lable commercial where the old couple mixes up their dentures, and the little biddy old lady puts in her husbands huge donkey dentures. heehee. To get back on track, the show is lackluster and boring. I don't really care who wins, but since I couldn't stand seeing those damn teeth all the time, I'll vote for Amy.Hopefully the winner has as glorious a career as that Guy person from last season...
Come on guys, she can't do anything about her freakin' teeth! Her cooking is another story. There are a lot more interesting things to watch if someone's appearance is so revolting to you.Talent wise, these shows are all struggling. I would still try out for one though if the opportunity came around.
I mean, if they can do an episode where Rory eats an apple through a fence -- eh, I'll watch her new show. But, I'd rather have another Ina-light with Amy, than a Rachael/Rory retchfest.
I voted for Amy and really like Amy ... her cooking has been the strongest throughout. I also think she's the only one who has never put anybody down ... she seems pretty damn genuine to me. I have trouble seeing either woman carry a show but who knows ... I didn't think Guy was up to the task either and he's now one of my favorites.Oh and stop being so hateful.
I still miss Paul! It was like having an energizer bunny around and besides Food Network is long overdue for an OUT gay man to host a show.
I think Amy is the most genuine of the group as well, however I only voted for her because Jag is gone. We REALLY don't need another RR character on food network, which is what Rory is shaping up to be. I can't even watch RR. I started out not liking Paul, but he won me over and then proceeded to get dismissed the following week. I'm dissapointed with Jag leaving because while I don't know how entertaining his show would have been, I really wanted to get his recipes. bummer. Oh, and I can't stand Guy. Food bad. Personality sucks. Cocky with no reason to be.
I'm watching the finale now, and all I can say is that it's a shame more people than Jag weren't forthcoming about their backgrounds. I have no love of professional reality tv contestants.
YAY!America has redeemed itself in my eyes after last year.
OMG! I can’t believe "she" won!All during this "competition" my wife kept on saying my God they are arrogant and so full of them selves...She's right, I used to think Alton Brown was cool but when he was "testing" them I saw he was an arrogant prick. (sorry) And don’t get me started on the judges…..They had a chance to bring some "regular" people in with Jag and Rory but they blew it!Amy is not relatable to anyone but the French and they are famous for running away!I forgive you Jag, COME BACK!!!!!!!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
CZap - have you ever worked in a restaurant and experienced what a real chef's personality is like? you have to be that way because weaklings do not make it in the biz. you should know this.
Didn't care enough to vote, but was disappointed in the outcome. She seems like Gourmet magazine personified. There's nothing terrible about that, but it's totally boring and too prone to pretentious francophilia. Not a new perspective at all.As a native Texan, though, I found Rory's cowgirl schtick about as annoying as the faux-French. But her food was more interesting (somewhat).
Was it just me or did Rory come off looking like a bit of a sore loser? She didn't smile when the results were announced, not even pretending to be happy for Amy and the rest of the time stood there with her back to the camera.I think Amy has the potential to do well. As a male, I'm interested in seeing a female talent on Food Network that is less boisterous than RR and Paula Deen, but not so wooden like Sandra Lee. Plus, it will be interesting to see her take on French cuisine. As far as I am concerned, somebody that appears on more than one reality show, is a reality show professional and that's a big reason why I didn't vote for Rory.
This was the first contestant type reality show that I've watched. I enjoyed the series but was dissappointed in the outcome, big time. Amy is a good cook but was my least favorite from the get go. She was boring and snooty. Michael, Jag and Paul were my favorites. When Jag was eliminated I didn't care a whole lot about the outcome.Jag was immature but would have, in the long run, been the best choice. He's a good cook with a lot of personality. The food is the most important thing on a food network show. But if the "star" is a bore or unattractive or a jerk, I don't care how great a cook they are. I won't tune in. Amy's show won't last long.I cast my vote for Rory simply because Amy was such a snob. But when I saw what a poor loser Rory was, I didn't feel bad for her.Alton Brown did turn out to be a conceited jerk. I'll never watch his show again. Giada seemed a bit snooty as well.
I voted for Rory. I liked Amy, but after she said she wanted to quit, I felt she should have been shown the door. And then when she was voted out, she was gone. Because of JAG's revelation she is let back in? I figured she was eliminated and thus Rory should be the default winner. So I voted for Rory. And I wouldn't say Rory was a sore loser. All her dreams were on the line, when she heard Amy's name. So she cried and hugged a few people.
I think Rory was robbed. If Jag hadnt removed himself Rory might have won. Amy was eliminated for a reason. Now she gets back in by default...and she wins...it just doesnt seem right. I dont blame Rory for turning her back to the viewers. I would have been spewing fire!!!
As for people like Giada and Brown, I am guessing that for dramatic purposes, the producers asked them to be a little more heavy handed than they might otherwise be. Bobby Flay was no puppy dog either. Remember when he pressed Jag to tell him what was 'Caribbean' about the soup he made for the Iron Chef competition?Remember, reality shows are not as 'realistic' as they make them out to be so I would caution passing judgment on any of the people involved based on this particular show.
i agree with jayc28 - you really can't say whether or not someone is a snob based on reality tv. and i would assume that it is kind of like an initiation - because you really do need to be able to take the heat - showbiz is not nice, and neither is being a chef. that's all there is to it. you have to be a little hard to be successful at that kind of thing.
Why do people equate anything French with snobbery? I really don't get it. What did Amy actually do to foster such negativity in people? Is it just her assoication with French cuisine?
I think Amy was only eliminated first because TNFNWS wanted JAG to win and they did not think the public would vote for Rory over him, but they knew the public would vote for Amy. The network is short on latino cuisine as he said and Jag's personality would have carried an excellent show. When all of the bad press came out and Jag "resigned" TNFNWS had no choice but to put Amy back in order to give the public their opportunity to vote still.Imagine the uproar if Rory had won by default after the viewing public had been waiting all those weeks to choose and did not get to?I don't think Amy was a snob, I think she was genuine and was clearly the most consistent chef each week with the best imprompto TV clarity. I am so glad she won, can not wait to watch her new show!
