The Kitchn's Cooking Playlist

Last week's email (not signed up yet? click here) put forth a short list of songs from my "cooking" playlist, and asked readers to send in some of their favorite songs for cooking.

For me, music for cooking means beats that get hot pads high-fiving and tunes that make the hips wiggle between stirring the risotto. Not every song needs to have a quick tempo, but if it's slower, it'd better have a lilt keep my chef's knife rhythmically slicing an onion, gently scrubbing potatoes, or at least have a food theme.

This was my list:

Rumba Como Quiera (Los Zafiros)
Ship Out On the Sea (The Be Good Tanyas)
Alpha Beta Gaga (Air)
Mi Swing Es Tropical (Nickodemus & Quantic featuring Tempo)
Aye Mama (Chief Osita Stephen Osadebe)
Cook of the House (Wings)
Aaj Mera Jee Kardaa (DJ BNX & Giraud Anthony - from Monsoon Wedding)
I Feel It All (Fiest)
Wadjo (Ex-Centric Sound System)
Cyrandeiro (Cyro Baptista)
Dawn of the Dead (Does It Offend You, Yeah?)
Lake Michigan (Rogue Wave)

Readers send in dozens, many of which I'd never heard of. Here's a sampling:
