The Hungry Reader: Food in Literature for March

We are happy readers, here at The Kitchn. We have been thinking about how many books have stirred our appetites - great passages from Hemingway on oysters and chilled white wine; Proust's famous madeleines; children's picture books with meatballs raining from the sky; old-fashioned novels like Little Women and Little House on the Prairie with their blancmange, tea parties, and maple sugar snow.

In honor of these and many others, March is Food in Literature month here at The Kitchn! We'll have good quotes, meals from books, recipes, curious facts and tips, and plenty of space for you to sound off about your favorite hungry moments from your favorite books.
