Do you get in a rut with breakfast? Need some fresh ideas? This flowchart is just what you need. A little funny, a little fresh — and yet seriously practical.
This flowchart was designed by Andrew at Eating Rules, in response to a reader's request for some fresh breakfast inspiration. He starts at the very beginning: "Good morning!" ... and goes from there. Are you "so flippin' late!"? Grab some nuts, some fruit. Got a few minutes more? Well, there are all sorts of options!
I can get into such a stale routine with breakfast — it's fun to shake it up a little bit. This is definitely inspiring and helpful — check it out.

Bacsac Bacsquare 04...

This flow chart is a great combination of helpful and clever. Love it!
hahaha I wish I had that many choices in real life! so often I wake up and I go: toast? No bread! Cereal? No milk! Eggs? Too early, blech. Pancakes? Heart attack! I guess it's just juice then... no juice!
I like the ideas, but I think I disagree on the times. I can scramble two eggs--with a little cheese and even some torn up spinach--in about as much time as it takes for the toaster to make toast. Or if I'm in more of a hurry, Egg in a Basket: Cut a hole in a piece of bread with a cookie cutter and fry the egg in the hole. Much harder to screw up than frying an egg alone, and I can finish getting ready while it cooks.
I'm a little disappointed bacon didn't make it anywhere(That I saw) on that flowchart. Who has eggs without bacon?
This is awesome. I struggle with finding something to eat for breakfast and am trying really hard to stay away from eating sweets. I also love that the first thing it tells you to do is drink water. I just learned that drinking tepid water in the morning is a really good way to start the day, so maybe I'll remember to do this with the chart.
like it!!! I am posting it on my fridge... helpfully this will inspire me to eat in the morning....
Lol @ QChan...after my own heart...
And are you serious, lurker2209? My toaster is way faster than me at the stove. Maybe the difference is cooking with gas...
I don't get how complicated people make breakfast out to be. For me, breakfast is whatever I'm in the mood for, be it toast with peanut butter or leftover sushi. My only rule is that it can't be junk food and that it can't be sweet (so no juice or fruit except grapefruit) in the AM. I always give myself at least an hour to get ready in the morning, so making the time to eat is a non-issue. I am not a morning person, so I discovered years ago that I need to give myself that much time to get going and I make it a priority to give myself adequate time.
Good, but very western-centric. I typically eat leftover curry stuffed inside a pita for breakfast, thai fried rice (fast!), kicheree or congee.
The picture is too small, I can't read it! Even when i press ctrl and + I still can't because it doesn't focus when zoom in. grr.
Jiminy crickets, toast and cereal for the same meal! I need protein!
