When you think of sleek and beautiful design, grills are not the first thing that come to mind. They tend to be bulky, awkward, and monochromatic. So when we heard a rumor of a grill designed by the former director of industrial design for Apple, we were totally intrigued.
The grill, it turns out, is a new mass market grill from Fuego, who makes high-end grills and outdoor entertaining setups. This new grill, the Element, is designed and priced for the mass market.
It was designed by Robert Brunner, who used to be the Director of Industrial Design at Apple. (We are definitely Apple fans around here, and we're curious to see what kind of parallels we can draw between our iPhone and this grill. Is there just one big button on it? Oh look — why yes!)
The grill is available in July, and it will be priced in the low hundreds — affordable for a good back deck grill. We're very intrigued by some of the add-on options for this gas grill: a pizza stone, a prep tray, and a lid for roasting. It seems functional and attractive for year-round cooking.
We're going to try it out, though, and give you our thoughts once we've taken it for a spin. Can a grill be gorgeous and functional? Stay tuned!
